This mixture of pastry, bacon and cheese is every food lover’s dream. Whip up your own Bacon & Cheese Pastry Twists at home using the recipe below:
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- ½ small brown onion, finely chopped
- 1 Lynca Meats streaky bacon, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, partially thawed
- 20g butter, melted
- ⅓ cup grated cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
- Olive oil spray
- Preheat oven to 220°C. Grease 2 baking trays. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and bacon. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until onion is softened and bacon golden. Add garlic. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until fragrant. Remove from heat. Cool for 10 minutes.
- Place the pastry onto a board. Brush with butter. Sprinkle with bacon mixture, cheese, and parsley. Cut pastry in half. Cut each half into 10 strips. Twist strips. Place strips onto prepared trays. Spray with oil.
- Bake, 1 tray at a time, for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden and puffed. Cool on trays for 5 minutes. Serve warm.
